COURSE IN DANCE THERAPY

Starts from Tuesday, 3rd March until 24th March at 6:30 pm to 8 pm at the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre. Classes are held on every Tuesday and Fee for the course is Rs 4,000 only.

A special curated course for everyone,  Dance Therapy for the very first time.The course will be delivered by the dance therapist Luisa Spagna. The students will learn the basics of dance therapy. i.e. about Expressive and Relational Dance Movement Therapy.

Luisa Spagna is a dancer, dance therapist, yogini, dance instructor and independent researcher on the feminine in dance, symbolism and visual arts who divides her time between Italy and India. Studying ballet and contemporary dance since her youth, in 1995 she started practicing classical and traditional dances of India, in particular Odissi, at the prestigious Gandharva Mahavidylaya Academy, and Chhau dance of Seraikella at the Triveni Kala Sangam, both in New Delhi.

Spagna is also a dance therapist who graduated from the three-year school of dance therapy directed by Vincenzo Bellia in Rome, and a member of the professional art therapy association ARTE. She approaches dance as a form of care and well-being.

Spagna has a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Salento, and from 2002 to 2015 she taught pedagogy and creative dance at the LUME (Free Mediterranean University for Europe) and later at the Popular University Karol Wojtyla. She continues to collaborate with various institutions, presenting lectures and shows on the art and culture of India. In 2003, she created the cultural association Sutra Arti Performative together with the musician and ethnomusicologist Paolo Pacciolla. She is also the writer of two monographs, as well as a laureate of the “International Women Excellence Award 2014”.

Note: Participants are requested to bring their own yoga mat and dress themselves in comfortable clothes.
